Self-Thought
"Self-Thought" is a work that explores the process of myself and my thoughts that often happen at night. The scenes depict the cat (a metaphor of myself) fighting, killing, consuming, and eventually transforming to become one with the heron(a metaphor for my thoughts) and represents the cycle of self-acceptance to be able to be at peace with yourself. The work is done with watercolour, pen, and wood. The final hybrid is revealed when the levy is pulled, reminiscent of window blinds in my bedroom. The two columns have separate storylines in which in the forest, I have to come to terms on my own, whereas in the urban environment of the playground where I often meet my friends, I am able to overcome my thoughts with their help.
